Admissions FAQs
We adhere to a first-come-first-served policy, with one important exception. In order to ensure age diversity among our children, an essential element of a true Montessori program, we occasionally offer an opening on that basis instead.
Consistency, order routine are critical to a child’s adaptation in well-managed Montessori program. As such, we only offer full-time programs.
For the Toddler program (2 years to 2 1/2 years old), we ask that your child is already practicing using the toilet at home and undressing and dressing by him/herself. Children in pull ups are accepted as long as they already began the process of toileting at home.
For the Primary program (2 1/2 years old to 6 years old), your child must be toilet learned (in underwear) to be enrolled. During the period of adaptation to school, it is normal to experience wet events. Naturally, we will support your child in this process.
Our school complies with all regulations by Department of Social Services, which include taking into account all children's allergies or medical conditions during our care. We are a “nuts-free” school.
Montessori follows the child's interest and needs and nurtures them within a framework of freedom within limits. Children learn to explore, play and work while also caring for themselves, others and the materials they engage with. Specific structures and guidelines are shown to all the children so they can learn how to interact in a positive and respectful manner. These are important concepts to bear in mind as your child graduates from free play to purposeful work. Children thrive in an orderly and carefully prepared environment with meaningful and practical activities!
Yes, of course! Dr. Montessori recognized the fundamental truth that play is a child's work. As such, her method is designed to appeal to children as a form of fun play while simultaneously bestowing upon them important educational precepts. Dr. Montessori's studies taught her that -- unlike adults -- young children must learn abstract concepts through concrete, physical examples and objects. For instance, a three-year-old child cannot grasp the mathematical concept of addition through verbal explanation. Rather, the child must touch and see physical examples of adding objects to a group. Montessori students play with specially developed materials designed to both fascinate and entertain them through visual and tactile stimulation. Naturally, we also set aside plenty of time to run, climb, slide, socialize, and play outside as healthy children should.
